Dabous Cast on Exhibition at the NGS Explorers Hall
The cast will be the main feature of the Rock Art Exhibit of the National Geographic Society's Africa Exhibition, which runs though to the Spring 2002. It has been assembled in the courtyard of the NGS on a timber frame, and angled steeply for maximum visibility.
The Rock Art exhibit will be part of a group of exhibits, including the Megatransect Interactive Display (J. Michael Fay), the Disney-Tishman African Art Collection, and an African Photo Exhibit. The Exhibition will aim to present an unprecedented look at Africa - far from the conventional "One People, One Nation" view, it will highlight the varied cultures, peoples, wildlife & terrain.
As well as being displayed at the NGS Exhibition, the Giraffe Cast (pictured left) are for sale. A limited edition are available, cast in both the United States and the United Kingdom, the mould of the Griraffe was taken directly from the Sahara carving in February 1999.
