This well-balanced extremely useful book is hugely readable by anybody interested in rock art, whether they be students, beginners, enthusiasts or seasoned professionals. Recommended.

The author, who is both an artist and an ethologist/paleontologist, presents a truly extra-ordinary book that attempts to explain Paleolithic art from the point of view of natural history. This thick volume will leave nobody indifferent and will stir up controversies.

For once, rock art is not the specific subject of the book presented here. As, however, it deals with graphic expressions from all sorts of points of view, it should be of interest to all rock art specialists.

In this luxurious book, all in Spanish, 27 papers give an overview of rock art in the Valencia Community, from the extraordinary Parpalló cave to schematic art, thus presenting a state of the art as complete as possible for the subject, including the problems related to preservation and management. A very fine work.
