JOURNEY OF MANKIND Part 1 - 'OUT OF AFRICA'
In conjunction with the Journey of Mankind Genetic Map, the Bradshaw Foundation now presents the first in a series of iLecture films which explore the most important migration made by mankind. Together with Professor Stephen Oppenheimer we look in depth at the Journey of Mankind and investigate how modern science has helped shed light on this monumental exodus.

Who were our ancestors? From where did we originate? If we came out of Africa, what factors governed our routes? And when? It was a single successful exit out of Africa that heralded the beginning of the most important journey made by mankind.

In this film Professor Stephen Oppenheimer explores in depth the genetic science behind this journey. How does modern science shed light on this epic migration? How did a small group of tropical Africans unite and survive in the face of adversity? What clues does the Toba eruption provide to the understanding of this monumental exodus?

In this film we are attempting to show the science behind the theory, the facts behind the journey. Stephen Oppenheimer explains clearly how the single successful exit out of Africa is based on irrefutable genetic evidence, endorsed by climatic and archaeological evidence.

Here, for the first time, is a simple explanation of a complex set of clues and circumstances which reveals how our ancestors began to colonise the world.
