Practical Expedition Information
All expeditions are organized in a small group format, typically with a minimum of 6 and maximum of 12 participants. Dates are tentative, subject to confirmation from all participants, as well as receipt of permits and visas! Note that some of these expeditions penetrate volatile regions, therefore the final decision on departure and itinerary may be subject to a changing security situation.
While the expeditions will focus on the rock art of the visited area, other interests may be catered for. The presented itineraries are flexible, and may be adjusted based on inputs from participants. In the field, discussions are held each evening to finalise the next day's plans, where all reasonable wishes and suggestions will be considered. On most expeditions, accommodation will be in field camps with facilities depending on the nature of logistics support, and in some cases will be very basic. Participants will be expected to bring along their own camping gear, a list of required items will be provided. Expedition participants will be expected to make their own travel arrangements to the point of departure, however assistance will be provided if required.
Expeditions shall require different degrees of physical fitness
The expeditions shall require different degrees of physical fitness. On vehicle/helicopter supported expeditions anyone with a reasonable state of health may participate. Trekking expeditions range from a difficulty not exceeding a more vigorous weekend walk to the extreme, only suitable for experienced trekkers comfortable carrying a 15-20kg backpack on very challenging rocky terrain. On more difficult expeditions the operator will make an assessment of physical abilities, and will reserve the right to decline an application.
Some of the expeditions will traverse some of the most remote and hostile desert regions of the world. While all necessary preparations and contingency plans will be made to ensure the safety of participants, and while emergency satellite communication will be available, participants need to be aware that in case of unexpected events or mishaps, closest medical facilities might be within several days reach, and even those of a very basic nature.
While the Bradshaw Foundation has carefully screened and selected the third party providers of the recommended expeditions for expertise, experience and quality, the Bradshaw Foundation does not endorse, nor will it undertake any liability whatsoever in connection with any of the recommended travel products. Participants may wish to make independent inquiries before
committing any of their funds and time to such expeditions. Any related contractual arrangement shall be solely between the participant and the third party travel provider, whose terms and conditions shall apply. |
