Rock Art of Baja & Coso
Petroglyphs sites in North America
This page covers two of the most important Rock Art sites in North America, the Baja Peninsula and the Coso Range. The Coso Art is in the form of the most wonderful petroglyphs, and rank amongst the best that can found anywhere in the world. The Baja Art is in the form of beautiful paintings that are unique.
When visited this year by Dr. Jean Clottes, Director of the Chauvet Cave investigation, he said that he was "staggered by the extent and preservation of the paintings" and "in his opinion they should be considered as an American Lascaux in terms of importance to the World's Rock Art Heritage. He went on to site Harry Crosby's book as a Baja Bible.
